Check your profile and carefully check all the details you’ve posted about yourself and ask yourself, are you giving away personal information that a stranger should not know about? Most likely, when you created your profile and added those important details about yourself you haven’t really thought what would happen if this information would be read by people you don’t know and people that may want something from you and wish to find you. Also, it is most likely that when you uploaded those photos of yourself you haven’t really thought how you would feel and react when these photographs would be viewed by your professor, your crush, or worse by a sex offender.
It’s very important to keep yourself alert at all times and with every action. You may not know it, but perhaps you?re already starting to advertise yourself online. Don’t forget that these information and photos can be searched easily online and therefore, you must protect yourself either by avoiding unnecessary postings or simply restricting access to your account to only the people you know and trust.
